I along with other Massachusetts artists will be exhibiting 12" x 12" paintings for a silent auction to benefit Umass Lowell.  It's a bit of a honeyhole for great art at a great price, since it is stictly word of mouth every year.  I've also got a prospective group showing in Chelsea, NY in the summer, so pleased stay posted for future news.  I'll also be looking to consign some works in galleries during this summer so if you're particularly interested in something, please let me know.

UPDATE [3/10/11] The next session of " 56 in Progress " has been posted in the portfolio section, it is certainly a large undertaking which is why I'm sharing it with you all while its being painted.  The scale is quite large, and the subject matter is very obtuse but intense.  It should be completed within the next two weeks along with its own artist's statement.  I have a new painting posted along with it entitled " A Soft Nomenclature " .  I'll be showing along with another artist in mid May, so please check back for details.

UPDATE [2/28/11] Sorry for the lack of updates I've been very busy lately.  Nothing substantial to post apart from a preview of a large piece that should be done sometime next month.  A close-up of the piece will be posted in the portfolio section.  I've been very low on business cards so if anyone is looking to contact me my phone number is 617-275-1098.

UPDATE [1/16/11] New painting from my new series is posted.  It's a portrait taken from a low resolution photo, extrapulated to show the colors that make up the flesh tones and shifts in musculature.

UPDATE [1/6/11] I've got a few shows coming up in the spring and summer so I need to clear up some of my studio space to work.  Alot of the work I have isn't pertaining to what I'll be displaying so if you want a certain painting this is your time to act.  I'm accepting all offers for all of the work unless it has already gone to a new home.  You can contact me at actualyalexander@aim.com for pricing queries, sizing details, and delivery options.  I'm also entertaining the idea of doing a total of three commisions, whether they be portraits or landscapes of a home, etc.  My pricing is very modest, so if your interested please drop me a line soon as I'll be busy painting my new series focusing on low resolution oil portraits with trunkated appendages in the coming months.

UPDATE [12/25/10] Merry Christmas!  I had to send in some jpegs for a an upcoming show's jury so I added some clearer images of an old monoprint.  I also took a photo I quite liked which is now in the photo section.  Happy Holidays!

UPDATE [12/9/10] 3 new paintings posted, as well as a reworked piece.

UPDATE [12/7/10] There is a new small study posted in the painting section.  I have some good news,  I will have photographs of 3 large pieces posted 12/15,  there are going to be juried so I am going to take the opportunity to have them photographed professionally.  I think they number among my strongest works so make sure to check back on the 15th after 5 pm!

UPDATE [11/25/10] I have a new painting uploaded, a smaller piece before I finish work on my newest large piece in my implied movement series.

UPDATE [11/12/10] 2 new drawings have been added, as well as an older painting, and my installation painting at the 4th Wall Project.  I've also added a few photos of older shows on the CV page.

UPDATE [11/08/10] I have a new painting posted, its done from an old dismissed work of mine from quite awhile ago.  Also I have an instillation up at the Fourth Wall Gallery that will be up for a few weeks, pics will posted Wednesday.

UPDATE [10/28/10] New painting,   new section; Guest Artist.  Busy gotta run!

UPDATE [10/20/10] I've got two new paintings posted in the portfolio section.

UPDATE [ 10/13/10] Living with 8 other artists I've decided to do a series of portraits of them when they are passed out.  The longer the person is passed out and the worse off they are, the more intricate the paintings become.  I've got a finished one that I did quick on the portfolio page as well as one in progress on the process made visible page.  I've also added a few new photos so be sure to check those out!

UPDATE [10/08/10] I've got a tumblr up now for some massart related shenanigans (sp?).  Also I did a little 4 x 6 inch paint doodle that I'm uploading while I try to finish some much bigger stuff.

UPDATE [9/27/10] New painting up, a quick little acrylic study of my roommate, Eric Warn.  New show in the works, word to Oliver.

UPDATE [9/15/10] I did an illustration for the " Ill Illustration Battle of 2010 " , against Ian of Westart Illustrations.  The winner is the artist who sells his piece for the most.  It is a really nice piece up close,  the sheen of the paint is amazing.  I will be donating the money from the winning bidder to a charity of their choice, and if no one is chosen, tasty, tasty beer and oil paint. If you are interested please email me your bid at actualyalexander@aim.com .

Visit Ian along with his twin brother Adahn at Westart.tumblr.com.  They're an amazing pair of artists.

UPDATE [9/10/10] My roommates and I all collaborated on a painting together, it was done all with acryllics, paint markers, and latex.  There are previews up on the process made visible page, and the final, unstretched painting is on the portfolio page.

UPDATE [8/29/10] I've added two new gallery sections, more for fun than anything else.  One is for photographs and another is for sculpture, mainly because of an impromptu chainsaw carving which I had alot of fun doing.

UPDATE [8/26/10] I've started a new painting, its going to be a study/reproduction of Euan Uglow's " S ".  The preview/first two sessions can be viewed under the Process Made Visible page.   It is very odd to do this because of his unique method of painting does not lend itself very well to being copied.  The details are miniscule while being of a casual nature, paint removal and mineral spirit washes are so dynamic it's amazing.  I've got a lot of hours to go on this one.

UPDATE [7/27/10] I have a new show in the works, but its not 100% yet.  I should have a piece in a show in London in the near future, stay posted for pics.  In the meantime, check out the process made visible page for a preview of a new painting I'm starting.

UPDATE [6/11/10] A big thanks to everyone that came out yesterday!  Sorry for those of you that got there after the show winded down, but I hope you still all had a good time.  If I failed to get any contact information from any of you yesterday, if if you'd just like to keep in touch you can email me at actualyalexander@aim.com or through my contact page.
